We hope you are enjoying the beginning of summer and the sweeping changes it brings – from graduation commencements at high schools and universities to wheat harvest across the plains of Oklahoma. Speaking of changes, we are celebrating a name change. The Department of Animal Science will become the Department of Animal and Food Sciences on July 1. The new name builds on a long tradition of collaboration between the animal and food science industries.
Please enjoy the other stories below, which highlight just a few of the ways our work improves the quality of life for Oklahomans, their families and communities. We are showcasing recent accomplishments of our students, a comprehensive response to sugarcane aphid infestations that helped grain sorghum producers save more than $7 million annually, partnerships with tribal nations to cultivate heirloom crops and more.
Until next time,

Thomas G. Coon
